The Sanctuary

Our Mission

The challenges and pressures of life often cause instability in our relationship with God. While some have the resources to take a formal sabbatical or an extended retreat, many of us simply need regular access to a safe, hospitable spiritual sanctuary.

The Sanctuary at Grand Rapids will serve Christians by providing hospitable sacred space for contemplative spiritual formation to strengthen and deepen our relationship with God.

Our logo uses a circle theme to capture the understanding of God’s dynamic presence around us. The bird illustrates the presence of the Spirit, not only as a kind dove but an imposing presence. The Tree of Life (Christ) reminds us of His Redemption and the many rich illustrations of The Tree in scripture. We are the person sitting under the blessings of the Tree, receiving The Spirit and being open to the Word in The Creator’s sacred space, nature. This is where we find ourselves in The Sanctuary at Grand Rapids.
