We envision the future home of The Sanctuary as a space abounding in natural beauty. We’re currently searching for a parcel of 18-20 acres in northeast Grand Rapids that will lend itself to the creation of a quiet haven removed from the busyness of everyday life but easily accessible to all in the Grand Rapids metro area. The property will be landscaped with sensitivity to the existing natural surroundings.
We envision the future home of The Sanctuary as a space abounding in natural beauty. We’ve currently identified a parcel of 20 acres in northeast Grand Rapids. Once purchased, this space will lend itself to the creation of a quiet haven removed from the busyness of everyday life but easily accessible to all in the Grand Rapids metro area. The property will be landscaped with sensitivity to the existing natural surroundings.
The Sanctuary will include a central building to house spiritual direction meetings, learning opportunities, and other gatherings.
A small stone chapel for quiet prayer. An art studio will have space for contemplative creative engagement such as paint, clay, sand tray, and more.
The grounds will include pathways designed for personal prayer and meditation. Some of these pathways will be dedicated to biblical themes such as the Stations of the Cross, and each pathway will be designed to be completed in less than an hour. Guests will be able to experience these pathways on a walk-in basis during The Sanctuary’s open hours.
In addition to the prayer pathways, other prayer spaces will be scattered throughout the property, such as poustinia’s (small prayer cabins), gazebos, gardens, and other similar features. Some spaces will have themed prompts to focus contemplation with God.
